SUGAR ‘N SALT-WHO KNEW? – I was teaching cooking to the girls at Marian Local in Maria Stein. On this particular morning, we were working on coffee cake. The class was divided into groups of four, each of which would be making a coffee cake. Without my knowledge, the kids had decided that one group would put salt into their mixture instead of sugar just to see what my reaction would be when I tasted it. They watched very carefully as I ate a sample of each piece. I came to the salted coffee cake. I gave a big frown! My reaction was exactly what the girls looked for. Embarrassing, but it was good to hear the children laugh!
