FIRST CONFESSION – Before becoming a Sister, I was the first lay teacher in St. Gertrude Catholic Elementary School teaching the second grade. I was privileged to prepare the children for their First Communion. Right after their First Confession, the pastor, a Dominican Priest, came over to me and asked me what I had been teaching the children. He said one of the second graders confessed that he had committed original sin two times!
VALENTINE’S DAY – In preparation for Valentine’s Day, I was helping my remedial first graders make valentines. Soon, one of the students who had a speech problem came up to me and said, “Me tan’t do it!” Correcting her, I repeated what she said, “I can’t do it.” She answered, “OOO tan too!”
